Just in time for the holiday season, MAC has released an exciting new makeup collection collaborating with top English fashion designer, Gareth Pugh.

Gareth Pugh for MAC's collection is perfect for getting your party glam on this summer! There are light-catching sparkly pigments for your eyes, shimmering powders, beautiful iridescent glosses, holographic nail lacquers and fantastical false eyelashes to choose from.

Gareth is beloved by the fashion world with his clothes seen on the covers of uber cool magazines such as Dazed and Confused.

Even the doyenne of the fashion industry American Vogue editor, Anna Wintour once said "In Gareth Pugh I see... McQueen," drawing similarities to the late, great British fashion designer Alexander McQueen.

Pugh's designs are worn by many top celebrities such as Kylie Minogue, Lady Gaga, Beyonce and Rhihanna to name but a few.

The designer has come a long way from basically being on the dole, living in a seedy, derelict Peckham squat to now being the darling of the fashion world.

Gareth's use of unusual fetish-like fabrics (PVC, rubber, human hair) and interesting things like the use of balloons to exaggerate the human body make his designs very experimental. Often these three-dimensional and geometric shapes make Pugh's clothes more like performance art and while very clever, unfortunately most of the time, they are not commercially wearable.

He is known for his monochrome designs which he describes as being "about the struggle between lightness and darkness". This comes through in Gareth Pugh for MAC's make up collection where there the same theme: a play between light and dark.

Create the look:

On the eyes we love the Metal-X cream shadow in Obscura (a smutty dark gunmetal grey) and Strada (a soft pale nude-y pink). Over this, add the sparkly silver Pigment in Guise and of course a pair of the false, flared eyelashes for maximum drama!

Lips are a putty-coloured nude (Cremesheen lipstick in Restrict) or just go for a wash of iridescent lip-gloss (Lipglass in Outrage)

You're going to love the beautiful black geometric packaging the make up comes in too. Perfect stocking fillers for Christmas!

Have fun experimenting and see you all next week!
