A blog or two ago, we gave you our verdict on Sex And The City 2 and declared it was porn for all die-hard fashionistas out there.

This week we got another dose of costume heaven in the form of the biopic movie Coco And Igor, a French film that closed the Cannes Film Festival last year.

If you are crazy for a good period costume film and love Chanel and 1920s fashion, then this is the movie for you. The attention to detail is incredible!

The costumes were designed by Chattoune and Fab with even an original Karl Lagerfeld design thrown in there. Naturally enough, the set designs and decor are just as immaculate and stunning.

This film tells of the torrid and adulterous affair between the famous French couturier, Gabrielle Coco Chanel, and the passionate Russian composer, Igor Stravinsky.

Coco and Igor were both highly creative artists and total non-conformists. They were truly avant-garde, individualists way ahead of their time, brilliant, modern pioneers of their chosen fields.

Chanel made the fashion world stand on its head by questioning femininity. She gave women a fresh alternative to the stuffy, fussy, corseted clothing that was "the norm" around that time.

Chanel shocked conventions by incorporating designs that were based on menswear. Shirts, pants and tailored jackets featured in her collections. Later on came the famous "Chanel jacket".

The House of Chanel created chic looks that were simple and classic. Many designs were also based on sportswear using soft jerseys and cashmere. The clothes felt luxe and comfortable at the same time.

Chanel was the epitome of sophisticated style and class; she was a truly elegant woman who always presented herself beautifully.

Chanel had a string of illicit love affairs with numerous men and Stravinsky was one of them. He, too, created the new and the shocking, composing music that was then quite "out there" in its strange rhythmic dissonance.

Chanel nurtured Stravinsky and recognised his tortured genius. She allowed him, his wife and children to stay at her house (whilst having an affair with him there!) It was a tragic relationship that was doomed from the start.

Former model Anna Mouglalis is perfectly cast as Coco Chanel. Anna actually modelled for the House of Chanel and she looks absolutely beautiful in the clothes.

While the movie itself is pretty dark and some parts are a somewhat slow-moving, if you are a fashion lover, you have to see this movie!
