In a shock move on The Apprentice New Zealand on Tuesday night, 'The Boss' Terry Serepisos handed the members of team Number 8 a yellow card, and a lifeline back into the competition, firing no-one from the boardroom.
In this week's show, teams Athena and Number 8 were tasked with creating a new Subway sandwich and taking over a store for the day to sell it, with the team selling the most Subs winning the challenge.
Team Athena, under the direction of project manager Catherine Livingston, created the Chicken BBQ Blast, which proved a hit with Subway customers. Number 8 settled on the Healthier Summer Roast, a combination of ham and roast beef with salad.
While previously troubled Athena sailed through the task, Number 8 encountered problems from the beginning, with David Wyatt disagreeing with project manager Richard Henry over the placement of the in-store posters for their customised Sub.
Losing the task to Athena, Henry was held back in the boardroom with Wyatt and Paul Natac. With his head on the line, Henry admitted responsibility and acknowledged he would probably be fired.
However to the surprise of Number 8, Serepisos said despite weak aspects of their performance, they had still impressed the Subway executives, and announced for that reason, no one would be fired.
But the team was left with a warning they would not get another second chance.
