Justin Bieber's mother thinks Selena Gomez is a "sweetheart".
Although the former couple have called time on their on-off relationship, Pattie Mallette has admitted she loves Selena and wishes the pair would get back together, but she said she tries to support Justin in all of his decisions.
"You know, I just try and support whatever he's wanting. I think Selena is a sweetheart, and whatever they decide is great," she said, speaking on the Today show
"It's tough letting go and letting our kids make the mistakes they need to make."
It was recently claimed Pattie has been urging Justin, 18, to reconcile with the Spring Breakers actress because she feels Selena, 20, is a good influence on him.
"Justin's mom has always been very close to Selena, and she's impressed by what a good influence she's been on her son," a source explained.
"Pattie's been pushing hard for Justin to get back with Selena. However, Selena doesn't want to associate with the crowd Justin's been hanging out with lately as she thinks they're not to be trusted."
Selena is said to be unimpressed by her ex-boyfriend's recent antics - including photos of him allegedly smoking marijuana being leaked online - and feels Justin's friends are to blame.
The insider added: "Pattie believes though that if Selena would just get back together again with Justin she could soon get him back on the straight and narrow."
