Seinfeld star sued for alleged assault

Seinfeld star Michael Richards has been slapped with a lawsuit, accusing him of assault.

According to TMZ , photographer Brendon O'Neal claims the star, who is best known for playing Seinfeld's eccentric Cosmo Kramer, approached him on the street and proceeded to punch and kick him.

O'Neal claims he suffered "great mental, physical, and nervous pain and suffering".

He is suing Richards for an unspecified amount of money.

TMZ said it had not been able to reach Richards' representative for comment.
