The Lovely Bones director Peter Jackson has confirmed that he will not be working on a movie version of the Microsoft video game classic Halo.
Jackson made the revelation during an interview for digg.com in which he was quizzed by the website's 40 million subscribers on a variety of subjects.
The Lord Of The Rings and District 9 film maker was asked if there would ever be a film adaptation of Halo. Jackson said that, while he suspected there would be at some point, he probably wouldn't be involved in the project.
Jackson said that he and Neill Blomkamp, who he worked with on the low-budget sci-fi hit District 9 , had lost interest in the project after film studios failed to take up an option on the movie and the rights had reverted back to game maker Microsoft.
"I don't think Neill would be interested in doing it," said Jackson, "and I'd only be interested if he was."
However, Halo fans should not be too disheartened as Jackson believes it is only a matter of time before someone makes the film.
"It wouldn't surprise me if, at some point, Microsoft do manage
to get the film made, and good luck to them, it'll be an excellent
film," said Jackson.
