British veteran chat show host Michael Parkinson has slammed Jade Goody as all that's paltry and wretched about Britain.
Goody found tabloid fame after appearing on the British edition of Big Brother in 2002 and transforming her 15 minutes of fame into a full-time celebrity career.
She died last month of cervical cancer aged 27, milking the media spotlight until the last in deals with broadcasters and publications to make money for her two sons.
Parkinson says Jade Goody has her own place in the history of television and, while it's significant, it's nothing to be proud of.
"Her death is as sad as the death of any young person, but it's not the passing of a martyr or a saint or, God help us, Princess Di," Parkinson said.

Er, were they not saying in the news recently that in England at least that there has been a substantial increase in women going to the Dr's for cervical screening. I was not necessarily a fan of Jane, but you have to admire her guts for having probably saved dozens if not hundreds of lives in the long term by making her illness very public. How many lives has Parky saved. Rather disapointed him actually.

I can see his point, even agree with him to a degree - but given that his claim to fame is interviewing people who are more famous and interesting than he is, he should probably keep his mouth shut.

Sheesh. I know Parky is saying what we're all thinking. But the woman is dead for crying out loud! You can try and at least cut her some slack now.
