Paris Hilton appears to be unamused by a Wellington company that's used her image on a billboard with the word "vacant" written across it.

The heiress is threatening legal action against the company Media5.

Media5 used the photo, which showed Hilton partying, to advertise vacant billboard space.

Her manager says the company didn't have permission to use her picture, and should expect to hear from her lawyers.

The company say they were just having a 'bit of fun' with the billboard and didn't want to offend anyone.

They say they will remove the image if Hilton's lawyers request it.
