Always dreamed of walking on the red carpet with the stars? Well now one lucky New Zealander can, in a way, after winning a piece of the Oscars red carpet on a TradeMe auction.
The popular auction finally came to a close at 7pm on Friday 6 March with the carpet going for an astounding $605.
The piece of Oscars history was put up for grabs by TVNZ entertainment reporter, Dominic Bowden.
Bowden came back from broadcasting live from the Academy Awards in Hollywood with an actual piece on the red carpet the stars walk in on.
The former New Zealand Idol presenter donated a chunk to Child Cancer to be auctioned off on TradeMe so the foundation can continue to support families of children with cancer.
The carpet has been measured and framed with the photographs of Bowden standing on it at the 2009 Oscars.
Hollywood souvenir collectors used to regularly keep pieces of the red carpet but it is not common these days.
