The network hosting yesterday's BRIT Awards has apologised for interrupting Adele during her acceptance speech.
ITV explained it did not mean to offend Adele or the audience but said the show was aired live and they needed to make up time for over-running.
"We regret this happened and we send our deepest apologies to Adele that her big moment was cut short. We don't want this to undermine her incredible achievement."
British singer Adele also apologised to the "suits at the BRIT awards" for pulling the finger on stage at the ceremony, which had its biggest audience in four years.
The 23-year-old took home Brits for best British female singer and best British album for 21, as well as performing her single Someone Like You to an audience at The O2 Arena in London.
On accepting her award for best album, Adele was cut off by host James Corden after 43 seconds to announce Blur as the next act, to which she pulled the fingers at the producers of the ceremony.
"I was about to thank the British public for their support," Adele said after the ceremony. "They cut me off, sorry if i offended anyone but the suits offended me."
Adele's performance at the Brits was only her second since undergoing throat surgery. Her first was at the Grammy Awards last week where she scooped six awards from six nominations, including album of the year.
Adele ousts Houston
The late Whitney Houston was unable to oust Adele from the top spot on the Billboard 200 album chart, and the British singer's 21 replaced The Bodyguard as the longest running number one album by a woman.
Boosted by her six Grammy awards and performance comeback, Adele's 21 saw its biggest sales week yet in 52 weeks on the US chart, selling 730,000 copies according to Nielsen SoundScan.
That gave Adele her 21st week at the top spot, beating the record held by Houston with her 1992 Bodyguard album. 21 which features hits like Rolling in the Deep and Someone Like You has now sold more than 18 million copies worldwide since its release in February 2011, Adele's Columbia Record label said.
The 23 year-old singer and songwriter also saw a surge in sales for her debut album, 19, which sold 87,000 copies.
