Musician Chris Knox suffers stroke

Pioneering New Zealand rock musician Chris Knox is in hospital after suffering a stoke on Thursday.

Knox, one of the founders of iconic independent music label Flying Nun, is in Auckland Hospital, Radio New Zealand reports.

His best known songs include the hit Not Given Lightly.

Knox is also a writer and cartoonist.

A family spokesperson says Knox's partner and children are focusing on his recovery.
