By now most people would have heard Lady Gaga's lead single Bad Romance from her new album The Fame Monster, but this club-orientated piece is only the start of what is an outstanding album.

Bad Romance is in typical Lady Gaga style - very wonderful and weird, however, it appears a little out of place with the rest of the album.

The Fame Monster shows Lady Gaga's maturity as an artist and really shows off her musical talent. Bad Romance may not fit with the thematic depth of the rest of the album but it connects the new material with her previous album The Fame.

The Fame Monster is a deluxe version of her 2008 debut The Fame and comes equipped with eight new tracks. According to reports the new material explores the darker side of her fame which explains The Fame becoming The Fame Monster.

It's no surprise that Lady Gaga would release this so soon after the success of her first album seeing as it scored her four consecutive Top 10 singles in a row.

There is a hint of subtlety in this album, which is supising given Lady Gaga's extravagance. This subtlety is highlighted in the ballad of the album, Speechless. The song shows her songwriting skills and is heavily emotional.

The lyrics in this album are worth listening to carefully as they are brutally honest and give the listener an insight into the bizarre and mysterious persona Lady Gaga has constructed for herself.

All eight new tracks on this album have the potential to be hit singles, as Lady Gaga has a way of creating her music into radio friendly tunes while keeping her own style.

Telephone, featuring Beyonce but not to be confused with the pair's original collaberation Video Phone, is one that looks likely to be put on repeat on many people's iPods.

Dance In The Dark has Lady Gaga in the position of a pop diva who has to deal with the issues associated with fame, such as the media and body issues. Most of the songs on the album address the problems that can come with fame.

Personal favourites of the album include Alejandro, Speechless, Telephone and So Happy I Could Die.

The buzz around the anticipation of the album was quite incredible. The video for Bad Romance had well over 10,000,000 hits on youtube after only about five days. What Lady Gaga does musically, she does well, so this album is sure to live up to the buzz.

The fact that Lady Gaga writes, or at least co-writes, all of her own material shows the true talent behind this eccentric singer.

If there was one criticism with this album it would be that with only eight new songs, it feels too short.

Lady Gaga has achieved an incredible amount of stardom in a very short amount of time but if she keeps producing albums like this then it's fair to say she will be around for many more albums to come.
