Lindsay Lohan has denied reports she has been admitted to a psychiatric hospital.

The Mean Girls actress has laughed off rumours she is mentally unwell, adding it is one of the few things she had never previously heard said about herself.

She wrote on her Twitter page: "Hahahaha my publicist just called me and said she heard I was in a psych ward!!!! Hahaha WHAT IS WRONG with people???? I'm working lol BUT that's one I've NEVER heard about myself before! New ones r always interesting huh? (sic)"

Despite finding the claims amusing, the 23-year-old star is amazed people are so interested in her life.

"There's SO much more going on in the world! Wake up (sic)."

Lohan has completed three stints in rehab, but insists she has conquered her demons and now wants to use her experiences to help others.

Earlier this year, she said she was planning to play characters who were giving and thoughtful to help improve the lives of her fans.
