Lindsay Lohan due in court on assault charges

Published: 7:58AM Tuesday January 08, 2013 Source: BANG Showbiz

Lindsay Lohan is due to appear in court in New York.

The 26-year-old actress - who has been partying in London in recent weeks - will find out at the arraignment hearing whether prosecutors plan to pursue misdemeanor assault charges against her in connection with a fight at a Manhattan nightclub last November.

Lohan was accused of punching fortune teller Tiffany Mitchell at the Avenue Lounge in the early hours on November 29 in an apparent row over The Wanted hunk Max George, but her lawyer has previously said he expects the charges will be dropped.

Her legal representative Mark Heller said recently: "Once again, Lindsay Lohan is a victim of someone trying to capture their 15 minutes of fame.

"From my initial investigation, I am completely confident that this case will be concluded favourably and that Lindsay will be totally exonerated."

The Liz & Dick star is also due back in court next week.

On January 15, the troubled star is scheduled to appear at a probation violation hearing in Santa Monica, California after it was alleged she lied to authorities when she said she was not driving her Porsche when it was involved in an accident last summer.

She is accused of a string of misdemeanour charges, giving false information to a police officer, obstructing or resisting a police officer in performance of his duty, and reckless driving.

At the time of the accident, Lohan was on probation for a 2011 shoplifting conviction and could face jail if she is found to have violated her probation.
