Controversy surrounding multi award-winning singer Ladyhawke's nominations and participation at the Australian music awards has left her saying she would like to withdraw from the show.
After cleaning up at the New Zealand Music Awards last month, her five Aria nominations have now hit an off note across the ditch.
She is scheduled to perform live at Australia's major music awards night on November 26.
Pip Brown, aka Ladyhawke, told a Sydney newspaper she was not up to performing at the awards and that she felt bad about it.
"At this stage my head's not in a good space for that. I feel bad about the whole thing - I'd like to withdraw from it," she told the newspaper.
She says the last thing she wants is for anyone to have negative feelings about her, especially on the Australian music scene.
Some say the artist, born in Wairarapa, is not eligible for the awards because she has not lived in Australia for the 12 months prior to voting.
Ladyhawke says she never thought she would not be eligible for the awards. She says she still leases a place in Sydney and all her belongings are still there.
Raised in Masterton and based in the UK, Ladyhawke dominated the New Zealand Music Awards by winning six gongs, including album and single of the year.
In Australia she is nominated for Arias for best female artist, best pop release, and in the breakthrough artist - album and single of the year categories.
Ladyhawke's record label, Modular, was behind the artist's nomination, but Modular management did not return calls to ONE News.
