With the New Zealand Big Day Out looking to celebrate their sweet 16th in 2010, Kiwi band Kora are excited to be part of the event.

Having played a few years back on the homegrown stage, Kora are looking forward to returning for their second Big Day Out appearance.

Laughton and Fran Kora are no strangers to the Big Day Out, having attended in previous years as spectators. However, when it comes to picking a greatest Big Day Out moment they say getting announced as one of the acts takes the cake.

Appearing alongside the likes of Muse, Lily Allen, Mars Volta, Dizzee Rascal and Groove Armada, it's going to be a big day for the Kiwi band.

Known for their roots style the Big Day Out may not be the typical type of arena for Kora, but they say as it is a big international event with bands coming from all over the world there is a place for all types of music.

Laughton and Fran say the more rootsy and poppy style is coming through on the homegrown stage which is great to see.

The pair are excited about the line-up as they say they generally associate the Big Day Out with metal.

Therefore high up on their "to see list" are the likes of Rise Against, Muse and Mars Volta.

They say they will "go see Muse again as they have got a pretty good sound," and that they would also "love to see Rise Against".

In the meantime, while they wait for February to roll around, it's business as usual for Kora.

They have a show coming up at the Powerstation soon as well as a few tracks to be recorded and a couple of videos in the pipeline.

However in tune with their style of music Laughton and Fran say there is "no major rush in the Kora department to get it done".
