A team of Kiwis behind the stunts in explosion-heavy war flick The Hurt Locker are ecstatic with the film's Oscar success.
The men say the awards are a huge surprise, considering they thought the movie might not even make it to cinemas.
Auckland stuntman Isaac Hamon is one of those making his mark in the film about a group of soldiers who specialise in dismantling bombs in Iraq.
And on a low budget film like The Hurt Locker, stuntmen only get one take.
"That's probably what I enjoy the most though. It's the pressure situation where everything's on you," says Hamon.
Hamon is part of a New Zealand team which looked after every stunt in the film, working with some of the biggest names in Hollywood.
"It wasn't this glitzy, Hollywood type of situation. Everyone just hung out together, ate together, worked together," he says.
The point of difference for the stuntmen this time was working under the direction of Kathryn Bigelow, now the first woman to win best director at the Oscars.
"At times I felt like she found it quite hard to make a decision on which way to go," stunt co-ordinator Rob Young says.
Young says there were rumours the film might not make it to the big screen.
"When we were filming it, towards the end, we heard that it was going to go straight to DVD and then it turned out to be quite a big thing," he says.
A big thing indeed. The Hurt Locker has now picked up six Oscars and cemented New Zealand's high profile in the stunt industry.
