Kimbra to play Auckland show

Published: 2:53PM Thursday June 14, 2012 Source: ONE News

Kiwi pop singer Kimbra is heading back home to perform an exclusive show at Vector Arena in Auckland.

The Settle Down singer will perform on July 28, in the biggest event ever organised by the Auckland University Students Association (AUSA).

Kiwi music icons The Black Seeds will open the concert, alongside rising music names such as Mt Eden, Ruby Frost and DJ's Ajax and Vandalism.

Kimbra recently became the first New Zealand woman to have featured on a US Billboard #1 hit single, thanks to her appearance on Goyte's Somebody That I Used to Know. The collaboration topped the US singles chart for an impressive 22 weeks.

Her debut album, Vows, was released in the US on May 22 and quickly shot to #14 on the Billboard Album chart, making it the highest ever USA album chart position by a female Kiwi recording artist.

Kimbra is currently touring the US with Foster the People and will stop off at Australia's Splendour in the Grass festival before appearing here.

Soon after her Auckland show she begins her own headlining tour of the US and Canada.

Auckland University students will have access to $20 tickets from AUSA, while a limited amount of tickets will be released to the public for $65 each.

Public tickets are available from Ticketmaster.
