Kim Dotcom to perform in Mega Christmas play

Published: 8:42AM Tuesday December 04, 2012 Source: ONE News

Kim Dotcom is set to play Santa alongside the Labour Party's Jacinda Adern this Christmas.

The Megaupload founder and Ardern join a star-studded cast including former Shortland Street star Kimberley Crossman and former Outrageous Fortune actress Siobhan Marshall for the Basement Theatre's latest production Mega Christmas.

Dotcom tweeted this morning: "I'm Santa in the #MegaChristmas play at The Basement. The funniest Xmas play ever. Get ur ticket now. Not for kids ;-) ."

The play, which is penned by Nic Sampson and Barnaby Fredrick, is to help fundraise for an upgrade of the Auckland theatre.

The story goes, Rudolph wakes up after a huge North Pole work party "horrifically hung-over" and discovers Santa Claus is missing.

Rudolph rallies the help of Tinsel and Elf and together they steal the magic sleigh to go on the hunt to find Santa.

Following clues around the world to find their employer, all they know is that whoever Santa's with is wearing dive-boots.

Chased by a bi-polar bear and using Santa's Facebook check-ins and location services to track him down, Elf, Rudolph and Tinsel have one day to bring home Santa and save Christmas.

The play opens on December 12. Tickers are on sale from iTicket.
