I've always loved Harry Potter. And this week I love him a little more after he admitted he thought Justin Bieber was a girl.

Oh, how I laughed when I saw this headline.

Sure, the story isn't nearly as funny when you read it. Turns out Daniel Radcliffe wasn't starting a celebrity feud. Rather, he was so busy filming Potter, he hadn't caught up on the pop culture phenomenon that is Bieber. (Lucky him.)

Still - it made me smile.

So too did the new trailer for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.

Now that is a film to get excited about.

I know I've already had my rant about Twilight  and I promise I'm not going there again. Okay, I am. But it's different this time, I swear.

The thing is, I've seen Eclipse now. And my opinions haven't changed.

Because they couldn't. The film is written solely for Twi-hard fans with intimate knowledge of the saga.

It's not intended to convert people like me. It's for club members only. And that's fine. I don't want to be part of your club anyway.

But please don't try and argue that the films are in any way, shape or form quality cinema.

Because that fact alone means they are not.

A good film - sequels included - has to stand alone. You should be able to walk into a cinema, with no background knowledge, and understand what's happening.

Your enjoyment of a film shouldn't be dependent on having spent hours reading books or watching earlier films.

Which brings me back to my old mate Potter. Fans and casual viewers alike can appreciate a Harry Potter film.

Yes, you'll pick up on a few small details if you've read the books or seen the other films. But they make sense. The major plotline and action is self-contained.

At least it was up until this point. As the final book is split into two films, it's fair to say that's all about to change.

But the film makers have been clear - this is one story, in two parts.

You can accept if you go and see part two of something, you better have seen part one.

Twilight comes with no such disclaimer. So take it from me - trying to watch Eclipse with no previous knowledge will only leave you sitting in the dark.

What about you? Are you in the Harry Potter camp or Twilight camp? Both? Neither? Share your thoughts on the messageboard below.

I agree with Joanna's comments. JK Rowling's books are infinitely better written than Stephanie Meyer's. Harry Potter is targeted at a much more general audience than the twilight saga, and the Harry Potter books & movies can be seen & read as stand alone stories. I have tried to read the twilight saga, and didn't make it past chapter 5 of the first book, as I am obviously not the audience targeted.

I honestly don't think that there can be any comparison between the two series. Not only is the quality of writing infinitely better in the Harry Potter books, the entire plot line actually make sense. It's infuriating when people say, 'the world of Twilight'. Last time I checked, there is no 'world of Twilight'. There is only our world, and real places in our world where the vampires exist. Nothing in Twilight can even compare to Harry Potter - absolutely nothing, aside from maybe 'star power'.
