There was no blazing sun, bikinis or beach but that did not deter Jerry Hall and daughter Georgia May Jagger from promoting an Aussie sunscreen in London.

The former supermodel turned actress and her 18-year-old daughter have signed up to be the faces of Invisible Zinc in Britain.

Launching the sunscreen at London's landmark Selfridges department store, the pair said they had been fans of the Australian owned and made sunscreen for quite a while.

Despite the cool and overcast spring weather outside, they were keen to share with British women the sunscreen tips that their Aussie sisters have known for years.

Both mother and daughter have made several trips to Australia over the years, with Georgia's grandmother Eva Jagger having been born and raised Down Under.

"Yeah, so we're one quarter Australian," Georgia May laughed.

"We have big family reunions there.

"I love Australia. It's a beautiful country. I've been there three times. It's very hot though."

Mum Jerry said she had fond memories of frolicking on Australian beaches and exploring the Great Barrier Reef, even though she had been burned by the harsh rays.

"Mick's mother was born in Australia, so we've been on many holidays there," said the leggy model, who shot to fame after being discovered sunbathing on a Saint Tropez beach by a fashion agent in the early 1970's.

"It's a lovely country. I'm looking forward to coming back. I'm very happy to be prepared this time."

It is the first time Jerry, 53, and her daughter, who has begun following her mother's model footsteps, have united for a promotional campaign.

Ganehill, the Perth based company which makes Invisible Zinc, hopes the mother and daughter duo will do for sales in Britain what homegrown supermodels Elle Macpherson and Megan Gale have done as faces for the product in Australia.

"It's hard to get the message out about the importance of protecting your skin to young girls and Georgia is a fantastic ambassador for that," says Ganehill's founder and managing director Andrea Horwood.

With expansion in the UK now underway, Ganehill hopes to crack the United States market next.
