This week at Style Blog we have begun prepping for the Qantas Television Awards.
It's like our little version of the Oscars, but held at the Aotea Centre rather than the fabulous Kodak Theatre. Also, instead of having the awards in summer, they are in September - great idea!
Nevertheless we take it very seriously and revel in the challenge. Just like the walking dead at US Vogue, September is a huge month for us, what with the Television Awards and Fashion Week to think about.
For the awards we have to design the wardrobe for all of our on-screen darlings and create hair and makeup looks for the big night. It's at this time of year you will mostly find us hunched in front of our computers or trawling fashion magazines in search of inspiration.
While on the hunt we occasionally get side-tracked by looks such as the Nightmare on McQueen Street pictured above. This photo was taken backstage at the Autumn/Winter 2009-10 Alexander McQueen show in Paris.
McQueen gave beauty fiends an ocular treat with his fantastical, nightmarish vision - sending out models with white painted faces, clown-like lips and head-dresses of recycled cans, plastic piping and lampshades.
Hmmm, glamorous!
We're not sure which one of our darlings could pull off the
clown meets flying nun look? So, you'll be pleased to know we have
opted to continue the search. And here is what we have come up with
so far...
