The GC rocked the nation and now Jade Louise, one of the reality show's stars, is doing the same to the music charts.

While The GC, which charted the life of a group of young mozzies (Maori living on the Gold Coast) finished screening on our television screens weeks ago it turns out New Zealanders haven't had enough, as its theme song rises to the top of the charts.

Vibrations, featuring GC star and singer Jade Louise and New Zealand rapper Savage, is number 7 on The Official New Zealand Music Chart in its second week - up 10 places on the week before. It also briefly topped iTune's top 10 downloads late last month.

The reality show first appeared on TV screens at the beginning of May and was initially heralded as a waste of $419,000 of taxpayers' money.

But despite the scourn it received, whether you loved it or hated it, it was undoubtedly a success, drawing in an average audience of 297,000 viewers an episode.

So it should come as no surprise that even though the first season has come to a wrap, it's not the last time New Zealand will see The GC cast in the spotlight.

Jade Louise, 29, a mum of one and a former Australian X Factor contestant, said on YouTube that she was delighted with the response to the song.

''AWWWW thank you all!!!!! I am so stoked that ppl love the song and are supporting it!!!! Honestly? dream come true to write a song and have ppl go buy it!! Biggest smile on my face.''

Fellow GC star Rosanna Arkle last week took on Jaime Ridge in a celebrity boxing match.
