Global superstar Lady Gaga has weighed in with her views on the love affair scandal involving Kristen Stewart and director Rupert Sanders.
The Born This Way singer has tweeted her thoughts on the fling to her 27.5 million followers, asking the press to leave Kristen and Twilight co-star Robert Pattinson alone.
"Geez this kirstew rob stuff is brutal. makes me sad the way press acts. hope they're ok," she tweeted.
Her message was retweeted by almost 12,000 of her followers.
Fans of the vampire saga have been left reeling after it emerged Stewart cheated on her boyfriend with the 41-year-old Snow White and The Huntsman director.
The 22-year-old actress became close to the married father-of-two during filming of the movie, in which she plays the lead role.
The pair were forced to issue public apologies to their partners after photographs of them enjoying a passionate embrace and kissing were published in a US magazine.
'Confident' of getting back together
Reports are suggesting that Stewart is "very confident" she can win Pattinson back because she knows how much he loves her.
"Kristen is pulling out all the stops with Rob, completely apologising and trying to make things right with him, but she is very confident that she is going to win his trust back," a source close to the actress told RadarOnline.
"Kristen is doing everything in her power to keep Rob from breaking up with her.
"(She) isn't going to let Rob go without a fight and she thinks she's going to win.
"She wants to make it work," the source said.
But it's not going to be an easy sell. Since the scandal broke it has emerged that Pattinson has moved out of the Los Angeles home he shared with Stewart.
The heartbroken actor has packed his bags and left the couple's residence and is now said to be in seclusion.
A source told People Magazine: "I'm not sure they'll be able to recover from this. Robert is heartbroken and angry."
Kristen and Robert have been dating since meeting on the set of the first Twilight movie.
The pair have been secretive about their romance in the past, previously refusing to admit the relationship.
But following the publication of the incriminating photographs Stewart issued a statement saying how sorry she was.
"I'm deeply sorry for the hurt and embarrassment I've caused to those close to me and everyone this has affected," she said.
"This momentary indiscretion has jeopardised the most important thing in my life, the person I love and respect the most, Rob. I love him, I love him, I'm so sorry."
