Celebrity guests at the Golden Globe Awards were given free micro-pigs.
Attendees at the prestigious awards ceremony found vouchers in their goodie bags for the new must-have pet- providing they went to a class about how to look after the tiny animals.
Usually the miniature farmyard animals cost $6,626 to buy, with celebrity fans including Victoria and David Beckham and socialite Paris Hilton, however company Patty's Royal Dandie Miniature Pet Pig offered the pigs free of charge.
Previously animal rights charity PETA (People for the Ethical
Treatment of Animals) has expressed its opposition to the pigs
being kept as pets, claiming Paris Hilton was setting a wretched
example to her fans by adopting one.
However the company's owner Patty Morrisroe insists Paris is a good
pet owner.
She revealed: "As soon as we took the pig to Paris they bonded. It was an instant thing."
In addition to the pet vouchers, guests were given almost $676 worth of other goodies in their free designer bags.
Among the items in the women's bags were Euphoria perfume by Calvin Klein, L'Oreal cosmetics and InStyle's The New Secrets of Style.
The men were given Euphoria for men, a custom shirt by Alexander West and a gentleman's style book.
All of the bags will contain a DVD directed by Martin Scorsese.
