Tough British actor and ex-boxer Ray Winstone is in New Zealand for the first time to co-star with New Zealand's tough guy, Temuera Morrison, in a New Zealand/UK co-production.

Set in 1903, Temuera Morrison plays a man accused of killing a British soldier in the film.

Winstone is the master tracker promised a bounty to capture Morrison. The movie is a game of cat and mouse that is very physical.

Tracker is no big budget film, but so far New Zealand's backdrops and weather have apparently made up for it.

The director, Ian Sharp, is also in the country for the first time and says, "I don't think I've ever seen beauty like this.

"You come up here and you can see how close it is to the road, everywhere you go you can step out of the car and you can shoot," Sharp says.
