First NZGT semi-finalists announced

Published: 7:31PM Sunday October 21, 2012 Source: ONE News

Hamilton student 'Big' Dane Moeke and child soprano Jessie Hillel have been named as the first semi-finalists to go through to the Grand Final of New Zealand’s Got Talent.

Moeke was the most popular contestant with the voting public after his performance of Celine Dion’s Because You Loved Me in last week’s episode, while Hillel was the judge's favourite.

Another five acts were announced as semi-finalists on tonight's episode of the top-rating talent show.

The off-beat skills of Hitmen Percussion, best friends James Fuller and Jacob Randall, have ensured them a place in the next round.

Whakatane’s Lily Latham left a big impression with her gutsy performance of a David Guetta house classic.

Hip hop dancer J Geeks, as well as16-year-old Monica Orbe’s and Evan Sinton are also through to the next round.

The five new semi-finalists will perform for the judges again in next week’s episode of New Zealand’s Got Talent, when viewers will be able to text vote for their favourites.

A total of 12 acts, as voted for by the public and NZGT judges Jason Kerrison, Rachel Hunter and Ali Campbell will take part in the grand ginal, a two-hour special to air on Sunday 25 November on TV ONE.
