Hopper, 73, went into hospital on Wednesday when he felt ill during a trip to New York.
"He was treated for dehydration, and is now back in his hotel room and feeling much better," Hopper's manager, Sam Maydew, says.
Hopper starred and directed 1969 movie Easy Rider, and currently he appears in the television adaptation of the 2004 film Crash.
His other movies include Apocalypse Now, Blue Velvet, and Hoosiers. He has been nominated twice for an Oscar.
