Dame Kiri Te Kanawa will sing at the Hollywood Bowl's season-opening gala on Friday - the performance serving as her induction into Los Angeles' amphitheatre's Hall of Fame.

She joins other famous inductees including Liza Minnelli, BB King, Placido Domingo and Frank Sinatra.

Dame Kiri says she looked forward to singing at the Bowl and didn't feel receiving lifetime achievement awards, meant her career was over.

The Who's Roger Daltrey will be among stars taking part at the special concert.
