The Hollywood agent for Tom Cruise has been forced to issue a statement insisting the star is alive and well, after claims the star had fallen to his death off a cliff in New Zealand.
The internet rumour resembles one that surfaced in 2006, claiming fellow leading man Tom Hanks had fallen to his death while making a movie at Kauri Cliffs.
According to numerous internet blogs, the Mission: Impossible star - hardly a stranger to danger - somehow slipped into the country and slipped to his death. Word on the web, then in real life, spread fast.
Christchurch radio host Luke Spittle saw the story online, and duly relayed it to his listeners.
"For him to suddenly slip into the country unannounced, fall off a cliff and die, I thought "I've got to mention this. Surely if this is true, I've got to be one of the first to say it. But it turns out it was just another horrible internet rumour."
In fact, ONE News found that Cruise has not filmed in New Zealand in years. Agent Jeff Raymond assured us, like many others, that Cruise is not currently, nor has he ever been, dead.
