Lost Boys star Corey Haim was living with his mother to help her battle cancer prior to his shock death.

The 38-year-old was found dead at their Los Angeles home on Thursday, after a suspected drug overdose

His mother Judy is totally heartbroken by the passing of her son and has revealed he was caring for her because she has breast cancer.

"I am a cancer victim and Corey was helping me at home. He was a good boy. I'm devastated by his death," she has told Radar Online

The bereaved parent, who is divorced from Haim's father Bernie, telephoned emergency services early on Thursday and he was later taken to Providence St. Joseph's Medical Center, in Burbank, California, where he was pronounced dead.

LA Assistant Chief Coroner Ed Winter has revealed four prescription drugs bottles were found at the apartment.

"There were no illicit drugs found at the residence. There were four normal prescription bottles taken," he says.

Winter has also confirmed there will be an investigation to confirm the cause of death, which has currently been ruled as inconclusive pending an autopsy and toxicology test.

"The Los Angeles Police Department reported it was a possible drug overdose, but we've seen no signs of foul play at this time. It's pending an autopsy and toxicology," he says.

Haim shot to fame in the 80s after appearing in a string of popular movies, including The Lost Boys, which also starred Kiefer Sutherland and long-time friend Corey Feldman.

He made no secret of his battles with drug abuse and in 2000 he confessed to taking large quantities of the sedative Valium every day.

But it appeared to be a battle he had won and in 2004 he claimed he had overcome his substance abuse problems, saying: "I'm clean, sober, humble and happy."
