The cherry blossoms are out early, the daffodils are blooming and no doubt, baby lambs are frolicking happily about in pastures around the country.
Spring is nearly upon us and we can start to unravel the bazillion layers we have been wrapping around ourselves for the last few months.
While it's still actually pretty darn cold in the mornings and at night, the slightly warmer temperatures during the day have spurred us on to start taking a good close look at that winter wardrobe. Yes, it's time to blow the cobwebs out of that wallet and inject a bit of life into the ol' wardrobe and what better excuse than a change in seasons?
We at Style Blog were lucky enough to head over to Sydney earlier this year to preview the Spring/Summer collections for 2009.
The collections were hijacked by talk of the credit crisis which, unfortunately, was reflected on the catwalk as many of the top Australian designers weren't showing. Never-the-less, the show must go on, recession or no recession.
Luckily it gave the media a chance to shine the spotlight on
some of Australia's brightest new stars. All hailed emerging
designer Dion Lee when he unveiled his first solo collection of
"Geo-glamour".
Geometric construction, Goddess dressing, resort wear and, let's
not forget, the gloriously trashy eighties revival seen at Wayne
Cooper were the main themes running through the collections.
Funnily enough those themes are exactly the same as those seen in fashion around the world.
This is the sort of fabulousness you can expect to see filtering
down into the stores when spring hits.
