As Style Blog mentioned last week, there has been a lot of hibernating at home and indulging in guilty pleasures - purely those of the unhealthy food and drink and trashy DVD variety, mind!

Thanks to the frightfully cold weather, there's nothing like a bit of decadent escapism really, is there?

When stuck in the 'burbs with endless, dreary rain bucketing down outside, we all indulge in a bit of fantasy to take us away from reality! And this is exactly the buzz Style Blog felt after attending the recent launch of Chanel No 5's Eau Premiere fragrance.

The legendary fragrance has had a makeover and now lends itself to a softer and younger version of the perennial Chanel No.5. It's like No.5's younger, saucier niece!

For those who know their perfumes, the new fragrance features neroli, roses, jasmine, ylang ylang, amber and sandalwood (to name a few).

The classic No.5 is a 90-year-old scent that was developed by Le Grande Dame herself, Mademoiselle Coco Chanel, and has been associated with style icons and beauties ever since.

Fifties bombshell Marilyn Monroe was once asked what she wore in bed, to which she cheekily replied "Well, Chanel No.5 of course!" Nicole Kidman also famously featured in Baz Luhrman's extravaganza of an ad a few years ago. Now have a new Chanel beauty to add to this glittering list of luminary icons.

Divine French actress Audrey Tautou is the latest beauty Chanel have snatched up to star in their new campaign for the eternal classic fragrance.

Funnily enough, Audrey is also currently starring as Coco Chanel herself in the film Coco Before Chanel, as seen in this year's NZ International Film Festival .

Now that's smart marketing! (Be sure to check that out, it's a must see!)

Audrey is the perfect ingenue cast as Chanel's new face.

She is beautiful and smart, but there is something else that sets her apart from others, I suppose that certain "je ne sais quoi" that a lot of French actresses tend to have.

Audrey is classy but never in a hoity-toity kind of way, she is imperfect and yet perfect. It's just being French! This is similar to the way women dress in Paris, they just get it. They don't even have to try, it's so annoying!

Merely by a certain insouciant tying of a scarf or a lipstick shade, it's never too much with French women - their fashion is always tres chic and tres elegant. Think Catherine de Neuve, Audrey Hepburn (ok, so she was Dutch) or Jane Birkin (ok, she was originally British!)

It's great that Chanel has gone back to using French beauties - it's just the way it should be.

The latest ad for Chanel Eau Premiere is like watching a beautiful short film. It is very sexy, sultry and mysterious and soo exotic. Style Blog went quite bananas over it!

The icing on the cake is the extremely hot, hot, hot young man Audrey keeps meeting on the speeding train (hmmm, there's a metaphor there!)

Ahhh, isn't it true how a scent can just take you away?

Now back to The Karate Kid II and pass me the double-choc mallowpuffs!
