Police have been called for the second time in three months to the Hollywood Hills home of actress Lindsay Lohan to investigate a burglary.

No one was home during the break-in, which Lohan discovered after the fact, according to an officer at the Los Angeles Police Department's Hollywood station.

He gave no other details except to say that no arrests had been made.

The 23-year-old star's mother Dina Lohan says the was ripped out of the wall, and the door was off the hinges and door handles removed. Bags, shoes and jewellery were taken too.

"Thank God she wasnt home. She's OK, but upset."

Staff are now packing up Lindsay's remaining belongings so she and her sister Ali can move to a more secure location.

Lohan's father is convinced the burglary was an "inside job" and has hired a private investigator to look into the case.

"Im sick of people bugging my daughter and using her. This is not the first time shes been robbed." Michael Lohan says.
