Tim Burton's Alice In Wonderland is set to hit cinemas soon with its star studded cast including Johnny Depp, Anne Hathaway and his wife Helena Bonham Carter.
It is Burton's seventh collaboration with Depp and his sixth with Bonham Carter, his wife. But she insists that it is never a given that she will feature in his work.
"No it doesn't work like that. Everyone thinks 'oh yeah of course' but I'd be the last one that's going to be in it. The only thing is maybe I feature in (Burton's) unconscious. He's like 'I drew this drawing and its looks like you so you have to play it' - this drawing of a huge head and angry eyebrows," she says.
"But I like it - the fact that he kind of deforms me each time we work together."
Bonham Carter was not the only one dealing with a "deformity" for the film.
Both Hathaway and Bonham Carter had to have bald patches on their hair, so as to not have a hairline.
The talented twosome are now preparing to watch their performance on the big screen.
"I hate (watching myself on screen) but I make myself watch it once, because the experience isn't about you, it's the totality of everybody. I'd make sure I sit through it once," Hathaway says
Alice In Wonderland opens in New Zealand cinemas on March 4.
