Blake looks set to recover from suspected overdose

Published: 3:49PM Sunday August 12, 2012 Source: BANG Showbiz

Mitch Winehouse has announced Blake Fielder-Civil is recovering from his suspected overdose.

Amy Winehouse's father has shared the "good news" that his former son-in-law is on the path to recovery after being admitted to hospital last Friday with multiple organ failure following a drink and drugs binge.

"It looks like Blake is going to get through this. That's good news," Mitch posted on twitter.

He subsequently added: "I am not supporting Blake but I am praying for his recovery."

The late soul singer's ex-husband was thought to have taken an illicit substance after drinking with a friend the previous night.

Blake, 30, was found choking in his bed by his girlfriend Sarah Aspin and was rushed to hospital in Dewsbury, West Yorkshire, where doctors put him in an induced coma.

Mitch last week urged his daughter's fans to "pray" for Blake's recovery for Amy, who was tragically found dead in her London home last July.

He posted: "Terrible news about Blake this morning. Remember Amy loved him. Let's pray for his recovery. Mitch''.

Sarah, the mother of the recovering heroin addict's 15-month-old son, recently revealed she was expecting the worst, saying: "I'm praying he'll survive, but I'm having to prepare myself that he may never wake up."

Blake and Back To Black singer Amy wed in 2007 and divorced two years later.
