American rock duo The Black Keys will return to New Zealand for shows in Auckland and Wellington in November.

Grammy award winning duo Dan Auerbach performing vocals and guitar and Patrick Carney on drums have received good reviews for their latest album El Camino.

They have come a long way from their modest beginnings as a garage rock band in Akron, Ohio in 2001, having recorded seven albums.

Their breakthrough came in 2010 with the release of their sixth album Brothers.

Recently they co-headlined the Coachella festival with Radiohead, Dr Dre and Snoop Dogg.

The Black Keys will perform at Auckland's Vector Arena on Saturday November 3 and at Wellington's TSB Bank Arena on November 5.

They last played in New Zealand a few years ago.
