The first announcement on next year's Big Day Out line-up has been released, with the rumoured appearance of David Bowie missing from the list.
Big name acts for the day-long festivals in Australia and New Zealand include Muse, Lily Allen, Peaches, Dizzee Rascal, The Mars Volta, Powderfinger, Groove Armada and Rise Against.
Other acts announced are: Kasabian, Eskimo Joe, Grinspoon, Girl Talk, Ladyhawke, Karnivool, The Temper Trap, Mastodon, The Horrors, Calvin Harris, The Decemberists, PNC, Dimmer, The Checks, Gin Wigmore, James Duncan, Kora and Minuit.
Heading into what will be its 16th year the organisers say the Big Day Out is still going strong and that the 2010 line-up is one of the "strongest ever" and is a more traditional one than that in previous years.
The organisers say they also want to thank the bloggers who decided David Bowie was coming along. However, it seems this rumour is yet to die, as some members of the public believe he is to be announced in the second of three releases.
With tickets going on sale on October 9 there are a few small changes to the 2010 event.
With a slight increase in price, tickets are $130 and are sold at Ticketmaster and Real Groovy as usual, but additionally they can now be purchased from the CD and DVD Store.
Also, the once open age event will now be restricted to those who are 15 and older.
The Big Day Out takes place at Mount Smart Stadium on January 15.
