After dating for only six months, singer Avril Lavigne is to marry Nickleback front man Chad Kroeger.
Despite the ten year age gap, it seems the couple found love after uniting earlier this year to co-write for Lavigne's next album.
"A romantic relationship blossomed as they spent time writing together," a friend of Lavigne's told People Magazine.
Kroeger reportedly asked for Lavigne's hand in marriage on August 8 with a 14-carat diamond ring.
"He makes her so happy," a friend of the Lavigne family told People.
"Both of their families could not be more excited."
Lavigne and Kroeger have yet to comment on the news, however a series of tweets seem to confirm the engagement.
"Congratulations Avril and Chad!" tweeted Nickelback, which includes Ryan Peake, Chad's brother Mike Kroeger and Daniel Adair.
Lavigne has been married once before, to Sum 41's Deryck Whibley. This will be Kroeger's first marriage.
