There are reports the FBI investigated the late Anna Nicole Smith for plotting to kill her husband's son.
According to the Associated Press, Smith was investigated in 2000 and 2001 for plotting to kill E. Pierce Marshall, who she battled in court for years over her husband's fortune.
However, prosecutors decided there was not enough evidence to bring charges against Smith.
The documents seen by the Associated Press say that when FBI agents first interviewed Smith about the allegations, she "began crying and denied ever making such plans".
Smith married J. Howard Marshall II in 1992. She was 26 and he was 89. Marshall died in 1995, leading to a long-running dispute over his estate.
Smith died in a hotel room in 2007.
