Hairspray star Amanda Bynes announced on Twitter that she will be quitting the film industry because being an actress is not as much fun as it used to be, the Sydney Morning Herald is reporting.
The 24-year-old actress told her 300,000-plus followers that she knew she was quite young to retire but made it clear that she had decided to stop as she no longer enjoyed what she was doing.
She thanked her father for his advice in making her decision.
Bynes shot to fame on Nickelodeon and got her own skit called The Amanda Show before starring in She's The Man, a teen gender-bender comedy in 2006 and as Penny Pingleton in musical smash Hairspray in 2007.
Her last film, Easy A, is due for release in September.
