Glam pop-rocker Adam Lambert is on his way to New Zealand.

The American Idol runner up is heading down under next month for a concert at the Trusts Stadium in Auckland.

Lambert, 28, has just wrapped up his US tour - a glitter and leather-filled spectacular in keeping with his glam rock persona.

Promoters of the concert say "glamberts" will get to experience an audio-visual spectacular that pays homage to 60s psychedelia, 70s disco and 80s glam-goth.

Lambert is openly gay, although kept his sexuality quiet until after American Idol had ended. He shot to stardom two years ago in the eighth season of American Idol.

He became even more famous after his live on-air kiss of a male keyboardist during the 2009 American Music Awards.

Lambert told Rolling Stone magazine after the controversial snog: "Female performers have been doing this for years-pushing the envelope about sexuality.

"The minute a man does it, everybody freaks out. We're in 2009 - it's time to take risks, be a little more brave, time to open people's eyes and if it offends them, then maybe I'm not for them.

"My goal was... to promote freedom of expression and artistic freedom."

Lambert's debut album was released last November in New Zealand and spawned three big hit singles Whataya Want From Me, For Your Entertainment and If I Had You.

Tickets to Adam Lambert's October 17 show go on sale on Monday September 13 from Ticket Direct.
