Well, The Dazzle Awards are wrapping up - see which films have made the list already by clicking here and here!
The Final pair of Dazzle awards go to a couple of films which hit cinemas late in the year.
Away We Go was a quirky tale about a pregnancy road trip as a duo of thirty somethings try to relocate and visit various friends to see what a perfect family life entails. Mendes has created a warm, wry, witty, whimsical and unexpectedly funny film thanks mainly to the performances of his leads John Krasinski and Maya Rudolph.
Aside from the big screen spectacle of Avatar which has changed film making forever (but needs a little more plot next time), one film was head and shoulders above the rest in terms of visuals - and narrowly beat Peter Jackson's The Lovely Bones .
The final Dazzle award of the year has to go to Terry Gilliam's The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus aka Heath Ledger's final ever film. While the plot was a little sprawling and chaotic, the vision which accompanied it made it look like nothing else which had hit the cinema for a while. A Terry Gilliam film is always a challenge - but you have to doff your cap to the man who when confronted by his lead's untimely death found a novel and exciting way to carry on the story. His use of other actors fitted perfectly the world of the Imaginarium and didn't seem gimmicky.
So that's the Dazzle awards handed out - still to come are the Dazzies, my cinematic worst of the year - and it's a three way tie.
Still you'll have to wait until tomorrow for those&.
In the meantime, which films should have been given the nod?
