Our Heritage
The Life and Times of Early New Zealand Settlers in a Charming Collection of Seven Vignettes
Charlotte Anne, Old Bill's Soliloque, The Parara Express, Pull Up
Another Dog and The Reverend and the Bullock Driver, utilise the
creative writings of the late John T. Diamond whose ballads paint a
rhymed history of the New Zealand pioneers, particularly the
settlers who earned their living cutting the mighty kauri trees in
Auckland's Waitakere Ranges. His ballads are about real people and
the hardships that they endured in those raw times.
The History of Trams - the first horse drawn trams on wooden tracks in Nelson in 1862 to steam in Christchurch in 1880, electric in Dunedin in 1900, and battery operated trams in Gisborne 1913, until their demise in 1964.
Ferry to Devonport - when the last of the kauri ferry boats were still transporting people from Devonport to Auckland, its a unique opportunity to see and enjoy the sights of these much loved ferries again.
