Laura Allen plays "Julia Mallory" on Dirt, a beloved A-list movie and television star. Following tragic news and a horrific accident, Julia's formerly recreational drug habit spins out of control. This season, Julia struggles to regain her place in Hollywood and maintain her relationship with her boyfriend, Holt McLaren.Laura was born in Portland, Oregon and grew up on Brainbridge Island, Washington, outside of Seattle. After graduating from Wellesley College as a Sociology/Criminology major, Laura worked in New York as a counselor in the domestic violence unit of the NYPD's 24th Precinct on West 100th Street. Nine months into the job, Laura started to burn out on the job. Needing a break, she decided to take acting classes.
She was cast as "Maid Marian" in a tour of Robin Hood that went to the West Coast. Laura returned to New York and volunteered at an off-Broadway Theatre,The Manhattan Class Company. At the opening night party of Wit, she met an agent and he started submitting her for roles and pilots. Laura landed her first role in a pilot for Fox's The $treet and soon after was chosen for the role of "Laura Kirk English" on the daytime drama All My Children. She also starred as the female lead in Spike Lee's Showtime film Sucker Free City and the USA Network original series The 4400. She also recently guest-starred in episodes of Cold Case and North Shore.On the big screen, Laura was last featured in Mona Lisa Smile alongside Julia Roberts and Kirsten Dunst. She recently wrapped filming on How You Look to Me with Frank Langella.
