Desperate Housewives began with Mary Alice Young (Brenda Strong)
leaving her perfect house, in the loveliest of suburbs, and ending
it all. Now she takes us into the lives of her family, friends and
neighbours, commenting from her elevated P.O.V.
Her circle of girlfriends on Wisteria Lane include Susan Mayer
(Teri Hatcher), Lynette Scavo (Felicity Huffman), Bree Van De
Kamp (Marcia Cross) and Gabrielle Solis (Eva Longoria). Edie
Britt (Nicole Sheridan) is Wisteria Lane's resident vixen.
Season one
Love, death, and Susan running around naked with nothing
but a flowerpot - season one had it all!
Gabrielle was involved in an ill-fated relationship with the
gardener, John; career woman Lynette was stuck at home with the
kids; Susan tried her hardest to seduce the mysterious new plumber,
Mike; and Bree contended with her husband Rex's sexual
fetishes, before Rex kicked the bucket in the final episodes (after
assuming Bree was responsible).
The central mystery of season one was Mary Alice's suicide. Over
the course of the year, the housewives discovered Mary Alice had
murderered her son's biological mother and buried her under the
pool. Creepy.
Season two
Betty Applewhite and her son, Matthew, moved in under a cloud of
secrecy. Eventually their game was up - the two had imprisoned
Betty's other son, Caleb, in the basement after believing he had
murdered Matthew's girlfriend. Turned out Matthew was the evil
brother.
Evil George the killer pharmacist managed to woo Bree, before
committing suicide. Bree turned to the bottle to cope with the
stress. Susan's ex-husband became engaged to Edie; Lynette
returned to work and became Tom's boss. Gabrielle gets pregnant but
loses her baby after an altercation with Caleb.
Season three
Bree got hitched to the mysterious Orson Hodge. For some
time the housewives believed Orson had murdered his wife,
Alma, but as it turned out, she left him. Unfortunately Alma
turned into a loose unit and attempted to murder Bree (after raping
Orson).
Meanwhile, Lynette finds herself with a new kid after Tom's old
one-night-stand, Nora, turns up with a daughter in tow. Nora
was eventually killed in a supermarket hold-up. Tom's grand plans
to open a pizzeria cause stress in the Scavo household.
After divorcing Carlos, Gabrielle shacks up with the mayor, but
eventually discovers he married her to get the minority vote. Poor
old jinxed Susan suffers another blow when Mike was the victim of a
hit and run and ended up in a coma. He eventually recovered, but
their relationship was shattered, leaving room for Edie to make her
move. Edie dumped Mike after he became a murder suspect. Susan
and Mike eventually married.
Season four
Katherine Mayfair moved back in after a 12 year break from Wisteria
Lane. As it turned out, Katherine was on the run from her evil
ex-husband.
Lynette is busy battling cancer; Edie has shacked up with Carlos
who is also having an affair with Gabi. Edie contracts crabs from a
sunbed which she gives to Carlos, who gives them to Gabi, who gives
them to the mayor and suddenly the secret was out.
Bree has faked a pregnancy with the intention of raising her
daughter Danielle's baby as her own.
Susan discovers she is pregnant.
Season five
Five years has passed. Susan tries to hide her relationship with a
new man; Gaby questions her abilities as a mum; Bree is on the
verge of publishing her own cookbook as business partner,
Katherine, grows envious; Lynette catches her teenaged twins
spearheading illegal activities; and Edie returns to Wisteria Lane
in jaw-dropping fashion with a new man in tow.
Season six
Mike chose Susan driving Katherine to a mental breakdown
followed by a lifestyle change; Lynette and Tom Scavo faced the
challenging realities of yet another pregnancy; Bree struggled to
break free of Orson and her inhibitions; and Gabrielle Solis was
put to the test by husband Carlos' teenaged niece, while a plane
crash and a serial killer rocked the lives of everyone on Wisteria
Lane.
Season seven
Paul Young is out of prison and back in the
neighbourhood with an enigmatic new wife and seemingly dark
motives. Paul is renting Susan's home, while she, Mike and MJ are
living in an apartment on limited funds. But Susan sees a glimmer
of hope in getting her life back on the Lane when she's offered an
unorthodox job by her apartment manager, Maxine.
Lynette's rich and successful college friend, Renee, pays an unexpected visit to the Scavo household; Gabrielle and Carlos find themselves keeping secrets from one another; and Bree, newly single and needing a fresh start after selling her business, finds herself tempted by Keith, the handsome, young handyman she's hired to update her house.
