The Bain family killings may undergo yet another legal investigation as the Dunedin coroner considers whether to hold new inquests into all five deaths following the acquittal of David Bain.

David has spent his second day as a free man, enjoying a round of golf with one of his legal team, Matt Karam.

But the Coroners Office has said the implication of the acquittal is that Robin Bain killed his family and then committed suicide and that means the death certificates for the family differ to the findings of the trial jury.

The coroner says it is too soon to say whether they would call their own witnesses should the investigation go ahead.

And Dunedin police would not comment on the possibility of a new inquest.

Bain supporter Joe Karam says it would be premature for him to make a comment but he did say David Bain has enjoyed a leisurely Sunday ferrying supporters to the airport and having lunch with friends.

The coroner will decide whether the inquest will go ahead in the next few days.
