David Bain's defence team is disappointed his full 111 call has been made public.

The Supreme Court has lifted the suppression order which has kept a portion of the tape secret following the 1994 Bain family murders.

On the tape, Bain is allegedly heard to say "I shot the prick".

However, his lawyer Helen Cull, QC, says the passage is not evidence, that it is rubbish and it was appropriate to exclude it from the retrial.

She says neither the Crown's or their own linguistic experts could agree on what was said.

Cull says they were only given 48 hours notice of the hearing.

Long time supporterJoe Karam says police wanted to believe Bain said "I shot the prick" in his 111 call, during a media briefing on Thursday.

He says the fact police only heard the words in 2007 is telling in itself.

He says the police were desperate for evidence, which lead them to put weight on things that weren't really there.
