Four days after he was found not guilty of murdering his family, David Bain has flown out of Christchurch.
Bain and long-time supporter Joe Karam greeted supporters before flying to Auckland for some time off.
Both have been living in the city for more than three months for the re-trial.
After years of campaigning, Karam says he's tired and glad to be packing up and heading home.
He says while Friday's decision should have been delivered years ago, it's finally come to an end.
Karam says he's not really sure what he's going to do now but plans to rest for a couple of weeks.
Bain's legal team says it could be a fortnight before a decision about a compensation application is made.
