Kaye Stewart - Case 13
Feature Crime: Kaye Stewart - Missing
Kaye Stewart drove into Rimutaka Forest Park at 10.30 on 13 June 2005. At midday Kaye failed to meet her daughter Tania as previously arranged. Kaye's family have not seen her since that day. Officer in Charge Detective Sergeant Mike Sears is piecing together Kaye's movements in an effort to solve this mystery.
Kaye was reportedly last seen by a Department of Conservation
officer where she asked for directions to get back to her parked
car. According to reports, this was well after the time she
was set to meet Tania. On the way to look for her mother, Tania
passed a quad bike driver who should have seen Kaye on her walk
back to her car. Police want to talk to this person, and are
keen to receive any information regarding this
The disappearance of 62 year old Kaye triggered an endless round of searching by authorities and family. Foul play was under consideration from day 2 of the search. There has been NO trace of Kaye since her last sighting with the DoC officer at 1pm on the 13 June 2005.
Long after the police search and rescue teams ceased searching the Rimutaka Hills for Kaye, her family continued to search, desperate to lay their wife and mother.
